3D Print Service
Have a 3D file ready to print? HOGG3D provides custom FDM 3D printing for functional parts, prototypes and small production runs, based in Rockhampton, Central Queensland.
Send us your file and tell us what the part needs to do. We’ll assess printability, recommend a suitable material and provide a quote before work begins.
Built for practical applications
Our focus is automotive, civil, mining, workshop and industrial applications — practical parts that solve a problem.
- Automotive brackets, mounts, housings and interior components
- Civil and mining prototypes, equipment accessories and non-critical replacement components
- Workshop tooling, jigs, fixtures, templates and assembly aids
- Fit-check prototypes and small-batch functional parts
We prioritise functional and trade-focused work. General craft projects, figurines, party decorations and novelty prints are generally outside our service focus.
Our printers & part sizes
We use enclosed Bambu Lab H2S and H2D filament printers with actively heated chambers, suited to a range of engineering plastics and reinforced materials.
| Printer / mode | Nominal build volume (W × D × H) |
|---|---|
| Bambu Lab H2S | 340 × 320 × 340 mm |
| Bambu Lab H2D — single nozzle | 325 × 320 × 325 mm |
| Bambu Lab H2D — dual nozzle | 300 × 320 × 325 mm |
These are nominal machine limits. Usable part size depends on orientation, supports, bed adhesion and material. We’ll confirm whether your model fits when preparing the quote.
Larger than the build volume? Parts can often be split into sections and joined with suitable mechanical fixings, alignment features or adhesives. We’ll discuss the joint location, strength requirements and any additional design or assembly work before proceeding.
In-house printing & specialist manufacturing
Our in-house additive manufacturing uses Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), also known as Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF), on Bambu Lab H2S and H2D machines.
Where another process is better suited, we can source specialist plastic and metal additive manufacturing through external suppliers. Options to assess include:
- Stereolithography (SLA): resin printing for fine detail and surface finish.
- Selective Laser Sintering (SLS): polymer powder-bed printing for functional parts.
- Multi Jet Fusion (MJF): polymer powder-bed printing for functional components and batches.
- Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF): metal additive manufacturing, including processes commonly described as Selective Laser Melting (SLM) or DMLS.
These specialist processes are externally sourced. Material, alloy, tolerances, finishing, supplier availability, price and lead time are confirmed for each project.
Files we need to quote
Please supply an STL, STEP (.step / .stp) or 3MF file. Include the intended dimensions or units so we can confirm the scale. For 3MF projects, we’ll review the model and select print settings for our machines and the agreed application.
You can email the file as an attachment or paste a link to MakerWorld, Printables, Google Drive, Dropbox or another downloadable source. Make sure shared links allow us to access and download the model, and identify the exact model or version required. If a listing has no downloadable file, please supply the actual file as well.
Please only submit files you own or have permission to have printed. Include any relevant licence or author permission with third-party models.
Tell us how the part will be used
The intended use is essential for material selection. A part for a vehicle interior, an outdoor mounting point and a workshop jig may need very different materials and print orientations.
Please include:
- Your name or business and contact details
- The file or download link, including the required version
- Intended use and where the part will be fitted
- Quantity and overall dimensions
- Operating conditions — heat, direct sunlight, water, chemicals, vibration or applied loads
- Critical dimensions, mating parts, hole sizes or fit requirements
- Preferred material and colour, if known — otherwise we can recommend options
- Required date and delivery postcode
Material options may include ASA, polycarbonate, PETG, flexible TPU and carbon- or glass-fibre-reinforced grades, depending on the application and availability. Final material and print settings are confirmed with your quote.
From file to finished part
- Send your enquiry. Include the model and application details above.
- We review and quote. We’ll confirm the material, quantity, any required model changes, price and estimated turnaround.
- Approve the job. Printing is scheduled once the quote and payment arrangements are agreed.
All parts are custom printed. For in-house FDM work, please allow around 4–6 days before dispatch as a general guide; the actual lead time will be confirmed for your job and may vary with size, quantity, material availability and workload. Delivery time is additional. Tell us upfront if you have a deadline.
FDM prints have visible layer lines, and fit and strength depend on the design, material and orientation. Let us know if surface finish, tolerances or load-bearing performance are important so we can assess suitability before quoting.
