Custom Projects

A part you can’t buy. A mount that doesn’t exist. A better way to get the job done.

HOGG3D designs and manufactures custom parts for classic cars, modern vehicles, workshops, civil contractors and mining applications.

Based in Rockhampton, Central Queensland, we combine CAD design, 3D scanning, traditional measurement and additive manufacturing to turn an idea or an existing problem into a practical solution.

You don’t need a finished design to get started. Send us photos, a sketch, some measurements or an existing part, and tell us what you need it to do.

Classic cars, restorations & custom builds

Older vehicles often need parts that are discontinued, damaged or unsuitable for the way the vehicle is being built today.

We can assess projects such as:

  • Replacement knobs, clips, covers, bezels and interior trim components.
  • Custom gauge surrounds, digital dash housings and switch or keypad panels.
  • Console inserts, cup holders, storage solutions and accessory mounts.
  • Adaptors and mounting pieces for fitting modern equipment into older interiors.
  • Reproduction parts developed from an original sample, broken component, measurements or scan data.

Whether you want to retain a period appearance or integrate modern electronics, we can work around the space, mounting points and finish you’re aiming for.

Modern vehicles, 4WDs & accessory fitment

An accessory might be universal, but the space you need to fit it into usually isn’t.

We develop mounting and fitment solutions around the vehicle and equipment involved, including:

  • UHF handset, microphone and radio mounts.
  • Keypad, switch panel, gauge and display mounts.
  • Reverse-camera spacers and mounting adaptors.
  • Console, dashboard and interior accessory brackets.
  • Cable guides, connector housings and equipment enclosures.
  • Adaptors that use existing mounting points where practical.

Tell us the vehicle’s make, model, year and trim level, along with the exact accessory you want to fit. Photos of the mounting area and access to the vehicle or relevant trim can help us develop and check the design.

Civil, mining & workshop applications

FDM 3D printing can be a practical option for custom tooling, equipment accessories, prototypes and suitable replacement components—particularly when you need a small quantity or a shape that isn’t available off the shelf.

Projects we can assess include:

  • Jigs and fixtures: locating blocks, assembly aids and fixtures that help position parts consistently.
  • Templates and guides: marking templates, hole-position guides and fitment patterns.
  • Equipment mounts: brackets and housings for suitable sensors, displays, communications equipment and accessories.
  • Protective and organisational parts: connector covers, cable-management components, tool holders and fitted storage inserts.
  • Replacement components: suitable knobs, caps, covers, spacers and housings that are difficult to source.
  • Development prototypes: physical models to check access, clearances, assembly and fit before final manufacture.

Where needed, a printed component can incorporate metal fasteners, threaded inserts, bushes or other hardware rather than relying on plastic alone.

We assess the operating environment and consequences of failure before recommending a design or material. Site-specific requirements and any engineering approval or testing needed are established as part of the project scope.

Designed around the job

Choosing the material is only part of the process. We also consider mounting points, wall thickness, print orientation, fasteners, clearances and how the part will be installed and maintained.

Let us know about:

  • Heat, sunlight and outdoor exposure.
  • Water, oils, fuels, cleaning products or other chemicals.
  • Vibration, impact, applied loads and repeated use.
  • Critical dimensions, mating surfaces and access restrictions.
  • Appearance, texture and colour preferences.

Material options may include ASA, polycarbonate, PETG, flexible TPU and carbon- or glass-fibre-reinforced grades, depending on the application.

From idea to finished part

1. Tell us about the problem
Send photos, sketches, measurements or an existing component. Explain what needs to fit, what isn’t working and the result you want.

2. Agree the scope
We’ll discuss the proposed approach, design work, materials, deliverables and estimated timing. Access to the vehicle, equipment or sample part may be needed.

3. Design and prototype
We develop the CAD model and, where appropriate, produce a prototype to check fit and function. Any revisions and further development are agreed as the project progresses.

4. Produce the finished parts
Once the design is approved, we manufacture the agreed quantity—from a single custom component to a small production run.

Custom design, scanning, prototyping and final manufacture are quoted according to the work required. Lead times are confirmed for each project.

The right manufacturing process

Our in-house printing uses Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) on Bambu Lab H2S and H2D machines.

For projects better suited to another process, we can source specialist manufacturing through external suppliers, including Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) and metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF).

The process, material, finishing requirements, price and lead time are confirmed before proceeding.
